1- Introduction to the Tribe Phaseoleae
1.2- Overview The planttribePhaseoleae is one of the subdivisions of the legumesubfamilyFaboideae. This group includes many of the beans cultivated for human and animal food, most importantly from the generaGlycine, Phaseolus, and Vigna. Although the tribe as defined in the late 20th century does not appear to be monophyletic, there does seem to be a monophyletic group which roughly corresponds to the tribe Phaseoleae (with some changes). Phaseoleae is related to the tribes Millettieae, Abreae and Psoraleeae, plus parts of Desmodieae.
1.3- Subtribes of Phaseoleae 1- Subtribe Cajaninae [ about 10 accepted genera] 2- Subtribe Clitoriinae [ about 5 accepted genera] 3- Subtribe Diocleinae [ about 13 accepted genera] 4- Subtribe Glycininae [ about 19 accepted genera] 5- Subtribe Kennediinae [ about 3 accepted genera] 6- Subtribe Ophrestiinae [ about 3 accepted genera] 7- Subtribe Phaseolinae [ about 27 accepted genera] 8- Group incertae sedis [ about 15 accepted genera]
