1.1- Overview Family Zingiberaceae or the ginger family is a family of flowering plants made up of more than 1300species of aromatic perennialherbs with creeping horizontal or tuberous rhizomes. It members are divided into about 52genera and distributed throughout tropical Africa, Asia, and the Americas. The Family Zingiberaceae has 4 Subfamilies: 1- Subfamily Siphonochiloideae 2- Subfamily Tamijioideae 3- Subfamily Alpinioideae 4- Subfamily Zingiberoideae 1.2- Tribes of Subfamily Zingiberoideae Subfamily Zingiberoideae has 2 tribes, 29 genera + Tribe Zingibereae [26 genera] + Tribe Globbeae [3 genera].
